The UK Broadcast Media Industry involves many different sections in it;

Radio– Public Radio, and Commercial Radio
Internet– Commercial Internet Broadcast, Public Internet, and Amateur Internet
Cable
Terrestrial
– Digital Terrestrial, and Analogue Terrestrial
Satellite– Freesat, BskyB, and International Satellite

We also learnt that Analogue Terrestrial Television was the traditional way of receiving TV.

Freesat is the satellite alternative to BskyB (British Sky Broadcasting), it’s free, high definition, it’s run by BBC and ITV, it also has a bigger bandwidth.

Virgin Media took over NTL: Telewest (the old cable rivals), it’s limited to where the cables are laid, they own a lucrative part of the market, they also had a big bust up with BskyB about rights to show programmes.

We’re going to Research and blog in our spare time about Pebble Mill Studios, Vimeo, Rupert Murdoch
(with an illustration of his empire) and about Richard Branson.
