FADE IN:

Scene name: Train Wreck

The Warrens’ house, INT. front room, Day 3:40pm.
A week after Tina and Dean split up, the house is a train wreck, there are dirty dishes, clothes and rubbish everywhere.
Scene cuts straight into an argument between Tina and her youngest child Billy.

BILLY

[Angry] All you ever think about is yourself, you’re a fucking cunt.

TINA

I’ve had to put up with your dad for 18 years, 18 years I’ve lived in a hell hole of a house, putting up with his bullshit excuses and tidying up after him.
[Angry] I work 4 fucking jobs just to keep us all fed and a roof over our heads and he just sits there smoking and drinking, [upset] do I really deserve that?
I’ve had it up to here. We all deserve better than he’s ever been to us!

BILLY

[Upset] Mom he’ll change, I know he will. Just let me talk to him, please. Mom please!

TINA

[Parental Tone] Billy, I’m sorry but it’s too late, we’re through. I can’t be dealing with him when Tammy’s got a baby on the way. It’s not good for her, it’s not good for any of us. She’s due in three months and I need him out of here before then.

BILLY

[Angry] I can’t believe you’re putting Tammy’s baby before your own fucking kids. Did you question how we’d feel, how Tammy feels about this? No, you didn’t because you couldn’t give a crap either way. I fucking hate you, you’re a selfish cow and [Upset] I never want to see you again. I’m going to live with dad, at least he cares about me.

SCENE NAME: Lost

Scene Description: Tammy is walking home from her boyfriend Jeff’s, Jeff is walking with her EXT. Night

TAMMY
[talking to oneself in her head whilst looking zoned out as she walks]

What am I supposed to do? I have a baby on the way, mom and dad have split up. It’s all because of me. I’ve ruined this family.

JEFF

Are you alright babe? You seem… a bit stressed…

TAMMY

[snappy] I’m fine, don’t worry.

JEFF

If you’re stressed you really need to talk about it, stress can harm the baby you know.

TAMMY

I know, it’s just… [sighs] Nothing.

JEFF

[Stops walking and lightly grabs Tammy by the arm]

No, talk. Come on.

TAMMY

Okay, okay get off me [shrugs Jeff off]
It’s just, I feel like getting pregnant caused mom and dad to argue more, and in turn made them split up. It’s all my fault and I can’t sort it out Jeff, I don’t know what to do. [starts crying]

JEFF

[brings Tammy in for a hug]

Hey, heeey. Don’t cry, it’ll be alright. We’re going to get through this, together.

TAMMY

You say that now, but what about a year from now, when you get bored of me and the baby. There’ll be lots of other women around that are more attractive, I’ll have stretch marks and ugh, I just hate all of this.

JEFF

I love you, and I promise. Together. Come on, let’s get you home.

SCENE NAME: Big News
Scene Descripton: Tammy reaches out to her best friend Gemma during a catch up picnic in the local park. Ext. Cotteridge Park, Day.

TAMMY

How have you been, I feel like we haven’t seen each other in ages!!!

GEMMA

I’ve been pretty well, busy with work and trying to see nan. We’ve just found out she has Liver Cancer.

TAMMY

Oh my word, that’s terrible! Is she going to make it or…

GEMMA

The doctor’s have given her a year, it’s terminal.

TAMMY

Oh Gemma, I’m so sorry to hear that [Tammy hugs Gemma]

GEMMA

I’ll be fine soon, it was just a shock to the system really.

TAMMY

Understandably. I really don’t know if I should tell you what I was going to now…

GEMMA

It’s alright, you can tell me. You’re alright aren’t you?

TAMMY

Yes, yes don’t worry it’s nothing like that, it’ll just probably be a bit of a big shock.

GEMMA

Hit me with your best shot

TAMMY

Well… There isn’t really an easy way to put this, but I’m pregnant…

GEMMA

Wow, okay. That was unexpected! I guess Congratulations are in order… I assume you are keeping it?

TAMMY

Yes, Jeff originally didn’t want to but I think I have convinced him, if we’d have found out earlier then I would’ve been fine with it and agreed with him because we are really young and you know how I feel about young parents, but we only found out a month ago when I was five months gone, and by that time the baby has a heartbeat and hair and fingernails and I couldn’t go through with it!

GEMMA

I completely understand, you know that I feel the same way. Well I’m here for you, both of you and I will be every step of the way. I love you and Jeff and nothing’s going to change that

TAMMY

Thank you. I’m really worried, can you help me get the house ready and things? I mean with everything going on with mom and dad I don’t think they’ll have any time for me and obviously Jeff’s got his exams coming up. I feel like I’m on my own!

GEMMA

I told you, I’ll be with you every step of the way. You need me, call me or text me and I’ll be there as soon as I can.

TAMMY

Thank you so much Gemma, you’re a star.

GEMMA

I know [laughs]

SCENE NAME: The Big Day

Scene Descripton: Gemma and her mom Tracey have just arrived at Tina’s house to finish taking the last of Dean’s things he doesn’t want to the tip when they find Tammy in labour. Int. Morning Day, Tina’s Living Room.

TAMMY

I feel so ill, I’ve not slept all night because I’ve had back pains. I keep being sick and I can’t eat or drink anything, I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I think I need to see a doctor.

GEMMA

Have you been timing your contractions?

TAMMY

I’m in Labour?

TRACEY

Well you were induced yesterday, weren’t you? Didn’t the nurse tell you that you’d have had him within the next couple of days?

TAMMY

Yes I was, and no she didn’t. I really didn’t think it would work this fast, I thought I was just ill.

GEMMA

Well it seems to me like your pains are regular and they’re coming pretty fast. I’m going to start timing them before you give birth in the lounge [laughs].

TAMMY

[screaming]

Gemma

Okay, alright. It’s going to be fine, just try to breathe through the pains, you need to have something to eat and drink, it’s going to be really difficult for you if you don’t. [Starts to rub Tammy’s back to ease the pain a little bit]
Has anyone rang Jeff yet?

TAMMY

No…

TRACEY

What on earth are your mom and sister playing at? I’ll ring him now.

TAMMY

But he’s in college!

GEMMA

Tammy, he needs to get here. You need to get to the hospital realistically within the next half an hour, and Jeff wants to be there.

TINA

[wanders into the room]

GEMMA

You might want to ring the hospital and see if they have a bed ready Tina. This baby’s well and truly on it’s way…

TAMMY

[excorcist scream] GET JEFF HERE NOW.
